Homespace is excited to announce our recently developed Youth Mentoring Program and the opportunity for members of our community to build personal connections with our youth and their children!
The idea to create a mentoring program was inspired by a conversation about the incredible need for our youth to have meaningful connections with positive adult role models. The spirit of the conference swept its way into Homespace and before we knew it our mentoring program grew quickly!
Those that are interested in becoming a mentor must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- A minimum age of 21 years old
- A valid NYS Drivers License.
- Clearance through New York State Central Registry.
- Completed criminal background check through the applicant’s local police department.
In order to meet the needs of our youth, every mentor must commit to a couple of guidelines, which include:
· A minimum commitment of one year to their mentee.
· A minimum of two face-to-face contacts per month with intermittent phone calls.
All prospective mentors should complete an interview and matching process, along with an orientation before their relationship with their mentee can begin.
