Helping Other People Excel
H.O.P.E. Center
Homespace has created an environment set up to help meet and support the educational needs of our youth. The H.O.P.E center, which stands for Helping Other People Excel, is a tutoring and job skill center. Homespace residents use the H.O.P.E center to apply for jobs, build their resumes, and learn how to write cover letters. Also, the H.O.P.E center is manned Wednesday evenings by a very valuable tutor, Deacon Milania, and manned Thursday evenings by another helpful tutor named Chris. Deacon Milania and Chris are teachers with the Orchard Park school system. Milania and Chris have dedicated their time to work with our youth, and as a result have created a tutoring center true to its meaning. The H.O.P.E center is a place where our youth go to gain educational skills, but have also grown to have positive, nurturing relationships with both Deacon Milania and Chris. As a result the H.O.P.E center is helping our youth grow into successful, positive young adults meeting their goals and progressing as positive parents for their children to succeed. One of our residents Merveille stated, “Milania is a big help because I can use her for things I do not understand, and she is a big resource.” Many of the youth utilize the center to gain the necessary skill sets to achieve in their individual goals and work to change themselves two generations at one time!
