Thoughts from our Executive Director…

It is with great enthusiasm that I write this letter to you. As we celebrate our 2nd anniversary of our Supervised Independent Living Program (SILP), I look back at all of the hard work and dedication that it took to get this program to where it is today. We have the recognition of being the first Supervised Independent Living Program in New York State that provides supervision through qualified staff on-site 24/7/365 to assist our families and youth. As in all foster care settings, this program requires us to adequately fulfill the needs of the clients that we serve.

These needs include safe housing, healthy food choices, assistance with career and school planning, assistance with parenting skills, and the ability to develop strong independent living skills. But we have to go above and beyond just those needs! We have the responsibility of helping these families transition to a life all their own, a life where they are ultimately responsible for every decision they make. It is the goal of our agency to promote and encourage happy, healthy, successful families.

As of this writing, we have assisted twenty-seven SILP families in fostering their goals of independence in a safe, nurturing environment. I am grateful that we were given
the opportunity to open the doors of such a beneficial program, and proud that we rose to the challenge to continue to serve the WNY community.

Best,

Kim Morris

Executive Director
